The corridor received its "Atlas Neighborhood" moniker from the historic Atlas Theater located at 1333 H St NE. In Greek Mythology, Atlas was the Titan God of Endurance and Astronomy condemned to hold up the sky for eternity. Many H St locales, such as "The Argonaut" and "The Apollo" have since adopted mythological names as an homage to "The Atlas". "Mythology" decided to pay respect to both our beloved Atlas neighborhood as well as to the diversity of all the cultures represented across our diverse nation's capital and their respective mythological traditions.
